PLATO DE MUZE: TOP MENTALITY, TOP SHOWJUMPING GENES AND A GOLDEN CHARACTER
Big news for the breeders: another top stallion joins the Hippo-Lux stables. His name: Plato de Muze, gifted with the very best showjumping genes, a fantastic mentality and a golden character. This son by Plot Blue belongs through his dam, the international performer Iphigeneia de Muze, to one of the best performance lines in Europe, the Qerly Chin line.
Plato de Muze was two years old when Filip Van Assche bought him. Filip had his reasons for this purchase: ‘He is produced by a valuable sports dam, Iphigeneia de Muze. Plato’s sire, Plot Blue, should not be underestimated either. He has produced many top showjumpers. Before I bought Plato, I watched him while loose jumping. I noticed that Plato was a sharp horse.’ Laughing: ‘I didn’t have to pick up any pole.
His main qualities? ‘His very good mentality. In the course he performed very well, even in the moments of truth. He has frequently jumped faultless. A horse that frequently realizes clear rounds and has a good mentality often succeeds. I have already seen several offspring of Plato free jumping and that looks very promising. He will breed well and amaze the breeders.’, Filip said.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nFilip sold Plato to Herman Stes. Herman recalls: ‘During my search for a new horse, Filip advised me to visit the then 2,5-year-old Plato de Muze. I also looked at Plato’s pedigree and came to the conclusion that it was very good. In partnership with Grégory Wathelet, Plato’s dam has successfully performed up to the 5*circuit at 1m50 to 1m60 level. Plato’s great-granddam, Narcotique de Muze II, has also made a career at international 1m60 level. Plato’s sire, Plot Blue, is equally outstanding. We reached an agreement and I bought Plato.
Plato did not miss his sports debut: as a five-year-old he was finalist at the WC in Lanaken and as a six-year-old he won bronze in the final ranking of the stallion competition. A year later he ended 6th in the final for 7-year-olds in Valkenswaard, 15th in the final of the Belgian Championship in Gesves and - as icing on the cake - became winner of the stallion showjumping class in Mechelen. In 2019 he triumphed in the 2* GP of Mechelen, ranked 4th in the 2* GP of Lier and achieved great performances in showjumping classes up to 1m50 level.
‘Plato has already given me many beautiful days. I got goosebumps when he won two years in a row in Mechelen. When Plato won the 2* Mechelen GP, Stephan Conter approached me and offered an astronomical amount for the stallion. I didn’t sell him then. Several other top sports stables have now approached me. One cannot find a better stallion in terms of character. Plato is also very intelligent. In the course, he is a ‘zero fault jumper’. He is very careful, has a top mentality and jumps very efficient. He also breeds very well. I myself have a two-year-old daughter by Plato out of a Dieu Merci dam. In terms of character, she is completely like Plato. Last year I let her jump in freedom. She didn’t jump spectacularly, but she was very efficient.’, Herman Stels concludes.
