Anyone who looks at the pedigree of Sky Blue-K van Kattenheye won’t be surprised by his qualities; He breathes top-class sport on both his sire and dam’s side. Sire Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof made his CSI5* debut this year under the saddle of Olivier Philippaerts, where the stallion immediately managed to stay clear in his first five-star Grand Prix in Doha! Le Blue Diamond notes clear after clear round and that is only expectable since Le Blue Diamond is a son of the 1m60 jumping Plot Blue out of Diamanthina van 't Ruytershof, who jumped at 1m60 level herself and is also the full sister of the 1m60 showjumping sire Emerald.
But the nobility of Sky Blue-K doesn't stop there... His dam, Eloubet van de Doorndonkhoeve, has already produced many international horses herself. Her eldest son, Indoktro K van 't Kattenheye, competes at CSI 1m50 level in the United States, while her second offspring, Jappelou K van' t Kattenheye defends the Italian flag at 1m45 level. In 2012 Eloubet produced three offspring via embryo transplantation, namely Moncherie-K van 't Kattenheye, active at 1m45 level with Marit Haarr Skollerud, Mr Uno-K van ‘t Kattenheye, who is also a Zangersheide approved stallion and active at 1m45 level under the saddle of Nicola Phillipaerts and finally Melodie-K van 't Kattenheye, who jumped internationally up to 1m30 level and already gave birth to a Zangersheide approved stallion herself, namely Rhythm-K van ‘t Kattenheye. In addition, Sky Blue-K is also a half-brother of Rockit-K van 't Kattenheye, who was BWP approved last year.
Sky Blue-K knows how to convince on both sire and dam’s side, but in the ring it are his qualities that speak for itself. He has a beautiful rectangular model and a modern type. His trot is large and with expression and has the same light-footedness that we also see in his canter. His reflexes on the jump are exceptional: his front legs fold very quickly, his body shows a lot of bascule while he effortlessly manages to open in the back!
